I am holding this little chap solely responsible for the fabulous weather we have been enjoying ever since he took up residence! (Bonus Boy was quite impressed to see that I can climb trees too when I clambered up to photograph his master piece, obviously I have not been climbing them enough recently and shall rectify that ASAP!)
Our girl has gone away so we have hidden a few little folk around the garden for her to find when she returns to our waiting arms! This is a flower fairy made using a biscuit cutter
This one is a tree sprite with hair made from Bonus Boy’s whittlings (more about that to follow!)
and this little imp is nestled in the wall!
I love crafts which everyone can join in with whatever their age or skill level and I really love garden crafts. I can’t wait for my girl to come home and find these, I suspect she will be adding one or two little people of her own. They have dried completely in the sun and I am hoping they will survive a downpour but, if they don’t, we can make some more!
We used DAS air dry modelling clay in terracotta, it is available on-line and in good art shops everywhere!
ooh I love those! When I eventually have a garden again I want to fill it with secrets and magic, and little sprites like these would be perfect!
Thank Sonya, we’re really pleased with them! 🙂
Ooh, these are delightful! I bet daughter will love then.
I think she will!
These are ace! How lovely!
Thanks Fi! X
These are very cute do they stick to the tree once dry or do they need a bit of ‘perching’? x
They’re still there so far! (No rain yet) They need a bit of squashing to get a hold and BB made his in situ so the squashing was the beginning followed by moulding. The older ones being more dexterous made them first and then squashed them into place followed by a bit of remoulding. X
ooooh I love them. S was asking for salt dough today, so now I know what we can make 🙂
You do! Hoorah! We’re making more at the weekend, DD rather likes them!
Love this, we made ‘boggarts’ with the Foresty Commission, kind of like this but on sticks…love that these are a permanent feature though! Thanks for the update on where to get clay, I am thinking about something like this to keep some kids happy at a friend’s wedding!
If you do, do get the white stuff not terracotta Penny because it stains hands and if those then get wiped down wedding clothes you won’t be popular! We’re going to make boggarts, fabulous idea – he’ll love that! 🙂
Love this. Really sweet idea!
Thank you! 🙂
These are so cool Chris! My father-in-law has lots of little strange clay faces on his trees in his garden and the kids think they are fab – I think we’ll have to make some to give to his collection now!
Oh do! *Claps hands excitedly* I’d love to see what you come up with!
Love these x
